Currently, the Resource Recovery & Energy Division offers environmental education programs, materials, and presentations to increase school-aged children's awareness of the environment. These programs are available to all public and private schools throughout Will County.  The US EPA also offers age-appropriate, educational material for students from Kindergarten through high school.

One key feature of the school education program is the Earth Award Program. More than forty schools have participated in this program since it was established in 1999.
