How do I get rid of household chemicals and paint?

Household chemicals should be used up to avoid any problems with improper disposal.  However when it is not possible or desirable to use the chemicals, residents may bring the materials to a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event.   HHW collection events are held at various places and dates throughout Will County.

The City of Naperville operates a permanent HHW facility that is open on weekends.  Click here for more details about the Naperville facility.  Click here to view a calendar of any upcoming events.

Oil-based paint is accepted at both the HHW collection events and the Naperville permanent facility.  Latex paint is not, because it is not considered a hazardous material.  Latex paint should be used up, allowed to harden in the paint can or with kitty litter and disposed of with your regular garbage.
