The
Will County Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC), in an advisory role to
the County Board, was created in 1985 by an act of the County Board to
function as both the Zoning Board of Appeals and Regional Planning
Commission. The PZC is comprised of 7 members
appointed by the County Executive who serve five-year terms. Members
review requests for zoning changes (map amendments, variances, special
use permits and/or planned unit developments) and new subdivision
developments (preliminary plats only). Variances authorized in the Will
County Zoning Ordinance can be approved by the PZC. Recommendations
for map amendment and special use permit requests are forwarded to the
Will County Board's Land Use, Planning, Zoning and Development Committee
for their consideration and then to the County Board for a vote along
with the recommendation of the Land Use and Zoning Committee.
The Will County PZC meets on the first
and third Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise posted and published).
Meetings take place in the County Board Room of the County Office
Building (second floor) located at 302
N. Chicago St., Joliet, IL 60432. Meetings begin promptly at 6:30
p.m.
