Located in western Will County, Section 19, Wheatland Township near the Will/Kendall County line, Wheatland Presbyterian Church serves as a tangible reminder of the Scottish settlers who settled this portion of Will County in the mid 19th Century. The existing wood frame structure was built in 1906 to replace an earlier Greek Revival structure constructed in 1856 and demolished in 1906.

This Stick Style structure with cross gabled ends and a steeple in the apex of southwest transept is in good condition with only addition completed in 1958 on the east side of the structure to accommodate meeting space and a larger entry, and new aluminum windows and front doors in 1996. The 12/12-pitch roof, concrete foundation and other exterior features have been well cared for. Fenestrations consists of stain glass gothic arched clearstory windows on the south and west elevations and smaller gothic windows on either side of the larger windows and main entry beneath a steepled bell tower.

An ornate wrought iron fence on the south and western boundaries borders the cemetery, located to the north of the church. Gravestones within the cemetery bear witness to the churches earliest members, beginning in 1856 and includes veterans from the Civil War, World War I and World War II, as well as many others who have found final repose during the past century and a half. Monuments within the reflect both funerary practiced of the late 19th and early 20th century with humble markers, some homemade, ornate designs, and elaborate decorative sculpted marble and limestone features.
