The building, which is now the Wesley Township Hall, was originally built in the 1880’s as a wood frame building, two story, with a false front. This building was first used as a general store named Landon’s.  It was not long before it became a local gathering place. Following its 1940 closure, and prior to its 1947 establishment as the Township Hall, the building was used for various social functions including weddings and club meetings. Although the building did not become the official Township Hall until 1947, township records indicate that the Township Trustees were using the store for a meeting place as early as 1896.

Although dramatically different from its original appearance, the building now known as the Wesley Township Hall was designated a historic landmark because of its contribution to understanding the development of the Township. While the building no longer reflects its original historic appearance, it remains a familiar visual landmark on the road from Wilmington to Kankakee.

The Wesley Township Hall was designated a Will County Landmark on December 15, 2005.
