Historic Landmark Registry - Russell-Smazik House

click here to return to the Historic Landmark Registry

This landmark is associated with distinguished Homer Township resident and farmer, Benjamin F. Russell. Originally, the house was designed as an I-House.  Although originally vernacular in style, the house exhibits changes over time and architectural elements of other house styles have been incorporated. An example of this can be found it its hipped roof, which is reminiscent of the American Foursquare style (1900-1920). In the County’s Rural Historic Structural Survey of Homer Township (2002), this landmark was identified as a contributing property to a potential heritage district.

Historic Name: Benjamin F. Russell House

Common Name: Russell-Hoyt-Wilbourn-White-Parker-Smazik House

(This landmark is located on private property and permission must be granted to view the house in its entirety.)
