Inspectors from the Code Enforcement Section are available to investigate a wide variety of complaints, including (but not limited to):

  • Dilapidated buildings
  • Accumulations of litter, garbage
  • Building demolition
  • Electrical violations
  • Junk/abandoned vehicles
  • Sight obstructions
  • Illegal kennels/animal hording

Other inspection and enforcement services are provided by the Zoning Enforcement Section of the Community Development Division.

Code Enforcement Policies

Will County respects the desire of all residents and business owners to enjoy their property.

  1. The County will enforce its codes and ordinances based on the violation.

  2. The focus of the County's code enforcement is on the nuisance activity or structure.

  3. The County seeks compliance first and foremost.

  4. Enforcement efforts are directed at providing opportunities for solving problems and eliminating violations.

  5. When sufficient opportunity for eliminating the nuisance has been offered, but no significant results obtained, the County will aggressively pursue relief in the courts, including civil and criminal remedies.
