The Zoning Enforcement Section is responsible for the investigation and enforcement of the provisions found in the Will County Zoning Ordinance. If zoning action is needed, then administering the Zoning Ordinance is then the responsibility of the Current Planning & Zoning Section of the Planning & Zoning Division.
The specific responsibilities for the Zoning Enforcement Section include the following:
- Investigation of Zoning Violations. Zoning Enforcement staff investigates reports of zoning violations such as inoperable vehicles, junk and debris, non-conforming uses of property and compliance with conditions placed on special use permits. Appropriate steps are taken, including possible legal action, to obtain compliance.
- Regulation of signs Through registration and inspection, proper maintenance or the removal of illegal or obsolete signs is part of this enforcement effort.
Other inspection and enforcement services are provided by the Code Enforcement Section of the Community Development Department.
