INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE 2000

Section 101.1 Title

These regulations shall be known as the Building Code of Will County, Illinois hereinafter referred to as "this code."

A change of use or occupancy shall not be made to any structure of this code without approval of the Authority Having Jurisdiction

Section 102.2.2 Additions, Alterations or Repairs

Additions, alterations or repairs to any structure shall conform to that required of a new structure without requiring the existing structure to comply with all of the requirements of this code.

Additions, alterations or repairs shall not cause an existing structure to become unsafe or adversely affect the performance of the building. Any building, plus new additions, shall not exceed the height, number of stories and area specified for new buildings. Alterations or repairs to an existing structure, which are structural or adversely affect any structural member of any part of the structure having a required fire resistance rating, shall be made with materials required for a new structure.

Section 106.1A Submittal Documents

To read:

All single family and two-family residences, multifamily, condominiums, town homes, apartments, commercial and industrial documents shall be signed and sealed by a registered design professional and as required by the Chief Building Official.

All truss design drawings shall be submitted at the time the permit is submitted.

Section 901.7 Certificate of Service

All required fire suppression and fire protection systems required to be supervised shall have the complete system checked, tested and certified that it meets this code and the International Fire Code 2000 and is in proper working condition. A member of the Fire Protection District shall witness all tests with 48-hour notice given to the fire district. A new certificate shall be submitted to the Fire Protection District on a yearly basis.

Section 903.1.3 is added to read:

A diagram showing design areas served by individual risers on multi riser systems shall be located in the sprinkler room in buildings with suppression systems.

In all buildings and portions thereof, all required means of egress shall be indicated with two approved internally illuminated signs reading EXIT visible from the exit access and when necessary, supplemented by directional signs in the access corridors or wherever indicated or required, indicating the direction and way of egress. All EXIT signs shall be located at exit doors or exit access areas, so as to be readily visible. Sign placement shall be such that any point in the exit access shall not be more than 100 feet from the nearest visible sign. Two exit signs are required for every opening where exit signage is required by this ordinance. One sign shall be illuminated and installed as per I.B.C. 1003.2.10 and located above the exit opening. The other sign shall be located within two feet of the floor to the openable side of the opening and may be luminescent only and upon approval of the authority having jurisdiction.

Limited access where the size or height or location of a building does not allow for adequate access an interior standpipe system, equipped with fire department hose connections approved by the Fire Protection District shall be required. The standpipe system shall be connected to a public water system and shall have a fire department connection.

"All new and remodeled structures that are required by code or regulation to have an approved fire alarm system, and all buildings required by code or regulation to have to be equipped with a fire suppression system, also shall be equipped with a Knox Box System approved by the Fire Protection Districts Fire Prevention Bureau. Concrete slab inspection for all residential, commercial, industrial and multifamily structures, garage and basement slabs and all interior slabs and all accessory structures shall be inspected prior to placement of concrete with any required reinforcing steel is in place.

R328 Concrete Requirements (curing and weather)

All residential concrete installation shall meet the requirements of 1905.11, 1905.12 and 1905.13 of the International Building Code 2000. The area of the floor used for the parking of automobiles or other vehicles shall be sloped to facilitate the movement of liquids to a drain, or toward the main vehicle entry doorway.
